The Meridian Library District has officially opened the doors of its newest branch in the Brighton community of Pinnacle in South Meridian. This highly anticipated facility will serve as a hub for learning, connection, and growth, offering modern resources to meet the diverse needs of families, students, and professionals in the area.
On the morning of Monday, September 30, more than 100 people gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Meridian Library District and the Meridian Chamber of Commerce which included remarks from the Meridian Library District’s Director, Assistant Director of Operations, and Chair of the Board of Trustees, as well as Meridian Mayor Robert Simison and Brighton’s President of Development, Jon Wardle.
“You can’t think of Public-Private Partnerships without thinking of Brighton and all their contributions to the community from schools, to roads, to this library,” Mayor Simison said in his remarks.
Meridian Library Director Nick Grove commented on this partnership, specifically: “Brighton took it upon themselves to donate the land and build the library, selling the building back to us at cost.”
It is estimated this partnership saved Meridian Library District upwards of $3M on this project.
An Accessible Space for the South Meridian Community
The new Pinnacle Branch reflects the Meridian Library District’s commitment to providing accessible and welcoming spaces for all members of the community. Whether patrons are looking for quiet reading areas, collaborative spaces, or advanced technology for research and entertainment, the library has something for everyone. The facility is designed to inspire learning and foster a sense of belonging, making it an ideal spot for individuals of all ages to gather and explore new ideas.
Meridian Library Grand Opening
Following the ceremonial ribbon cutting, the library officially opened to the public, and the first children’s reading was held in the new branch. There was plenty of library staff and volunteers on hand to give tours to attendees, showcasing the library’s many features, including the 24-Access point for requested materials and returns. The Meridian Library District looks forward to welcoming the Pinnacle community and the rest of the SO|ME District into this dynamic new space.
A Collaborative Development Effort
The Pinnacle Library Branch development effort was made possible by funding from a 2019 levy and land donated by Brighton and SCS. Brighton’s role as a development partner throughout the life of this project underscores Brighton’s ongoing commitment to creating great places that contribute to the well-being and growth of its communities. The Pinnacle community was designed to enhance the lifestyle of residents through the smart planning of thoughtful community spaces and creating opportunities for socialization and connection, and a new library space is a perfect addition to support this mission.
